Ferrister Mirembe
Building a career in sports business, management, and operations by combining my operational experience with genuine knowledge of the African sports landscape.
I started watching sports in 2024 and what started as a hobby quickly became a professional commitment when I launched CMD Sport Africa on Substack. Through this platform, I began writing and reading about African sport from a business and governance angle, while actively building a network of sports professionals across the continent.
I follow Formula One, the Premier League, NBA, WNBA, rugby, and tennis with a deep interest in the commercial and governance dimensions of each. Furthermore, my writing focuses on how African sport is structured, funded, and told, alongside an effort to interview African women about their unique work and experiences in the industry.
Driven by a yearning to learn and grow within this space, I have invested in my professional development and community networks. I hold IOC certifications in Professional Sport Management and Sport Event Management. Additionally, I volunteer with BOS Africa, a Pan-African sports business education institute, and I am mentored through the SIGAWomen Global Mentorship Programme in sports governance and leadership. Being part of the AWISI network further allows me to collaborate, share knowledge, and connect with others who are equally committed to shaping the future of sport on the continent.
My sports CV covers my IOC certifications, BOS Africa volunteer work, SIGAWomen mentorship, CMD Sport Africa, and my administrative background as the operational foundation I bring to the sports sector.
Issued by the International Olympic Committee, signed by IOC President Kirsty Coventry. September 2026.
